Discussion on the use of columns, beams, and roof rods:

How to give lapping to the column or beam, how much to

pay these things are very important. Also,

you have to work according to the proper rules in giving extra top,

ring barrier, and ring in beam-column. Also, in the case of a slab,

you have to take care of the crank bar, extra top, etc.

I shared some rules for putting columns, beams, and rods

on the roof from the idea of ​​different drawings of practical work.

However, some things may be different from drawing to drawing.

Ring barrier rule in the column:

Rings or tie bars are provided on both the sides of the column and

it will be thicker within L / 4 distance from the floor and ceiling

adjacent part, it should be maintained as per the drawing.

Spacing can be 3/4/5 inches (2.5 “provided)

The ring bar is placed in the middle of the column and

it should be placed less frequently outside the L / 4

distance from the floor and ceiling adjacent part,

it should be maintained as per the drawing.

Spacing may be 6/7/8 inches (provided 6 “)

Rules for beam ring barrier:

Rings or tie bars are provided on both the sides of the

beam and it will be thicker within L / 4 distance from

the adjacent part of the column, it should be maintained according to the drawing.

Spacing can be 3/4/5 inches (provided 4 “)

A ring or tie bar is placed in the middle of the beam

and it should  place less frequently outside the L / 4

distance from the adjacent part of the column,

it should be maintained according to the drawing.

Spacing may be 6/7/8 inches (provided 6 “)

Extra top in case of beams:

The amount of extra top at the end of the beam is give as L / 4

The amount of extra top gives as L / 3 next to

the support in the middle of the beam

Extra bottom in the beam is give L / 7 or L / 8 away from the column

Rules for giving rod to the roof :

First, we need to know why we use rods on the roof or in different castings:

But it cannot take tensile strength, that is, concrete is brittle.

Therefore, iron rods are use with concrete to prevent tensile

strength in areas where concrete is prone to bending.

Because iron rods are strong, easy to weld. Can do,

easily available and cheap in price.

If the thickness is more than four inches, the roof rod is two

It should  give in layers. Less than four inches,

for example, bathroom slabs/sunshades,

all this has to  do in one layer.

Layers are call lattices in the conventional language.

Main rod and binder rod:

The main rod on the roof gives along the short direction

Binder rods give to the roof along the long direction

The main rod is outside the khachkar i.e. up and down

The binder rod stays inside the notch

Extra top on slab

The amount of extra top at the edge of the slab is giving up to L / 4

The extra top gives up to L / 3 on the support in the middle of the slab

Crank bar on slab:

The amount of crank at the end of the slab is L / 5

The amount of crank on the support in the middle of the slab is giving as L / 4

Note: These things are do according to the design,

so you have to work on drawing.

However, the above rules are use in most cases.
